What Information We Collect

We Automatically Use Cookies to Learn About You

Cookies are electronic files that your computer automatically downloads when visiting our site. These cookies allow us to accurately track our web traffic by letting us know whether and when you’ve visited our site before, which parts of our site you’re interacting with, and which sites you’re coming from. It also tells us your IP address, internet browser, and your city.

You May Offer Personal Information by Commenting on Our Site

Our site has links to forums and sign-up forms hosted on third-party sites where visitors can share personally-identifying information. It’s up to you whether you choose to share this information.

We Use 3rd Parties to Store and Collect Information from You

We offer various payment and donation options. Each of those transactions involves a separate company. We also have discussion spaces hosted on Facebook and Slack. Any transaction using a third-party processor will provide a link where you can read their policies.

How We Use the Information We Collect

We use the Personal Information that we collect generally to provide any services offered through the Sites to communicate with you. We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Sites, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

We may use personal information held about you in the following ways:

  • to create a mailing list from the information you provide;
  • to process donations you make;
  • to evaluate your application to attend an event or receive grant funding for a project;
  • to reach out to you about updates on our activity, potential collaborators, or job/project opportunities;
  • to comply with auditing and gift aid requirements;
  • to make public reports about donations (such reports will not directly identify you, but we will use your personal data when creating them);
  • to ensure that content from our Websites is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your device; or
  • to respond to queries you send us.

When contacting you for any of the above purposes, we may do so by phone or email, unless you tell us otherwise.

We create a mailing list from the information you provide including name, email, physical address, and phone. We may use this information to keep you updated on our activities that we think you may find interesting—like fundamentally changing how we vote!

We Don’t Share Or Sell Your Information

EIP does not sell or rent supporter, donor, or website visitor information under any circumstances, and we do not share supporter, donor or visitor information without prior consent except as compelled by law. This restriction applies to supporters and donors who join or donate both online and offline.

Children

We don’t expect or intend to collect information on children under 16. Children should get help from a parent or guardian before entering personal information into a website.

Data Retention
