War is one of the leading non-disease-related causes of avoidable death and disability worldwide, and casualties from armed conflicts have been on the rise in recent years. In addition, geopolitical tensions between great powers are upstream of many more serious global risks including nuclear war and technology-related catastrophes. We are studying national and international security regimes to find ways that philanthropic funders can participate in reducing the risks and impacts of armed conflicts between nation-states.
